| Facts about the harbour: |
The village of Kristianopel was founded by the Danish king Christian IV in the very beginning of the 1700th century. The southern parts of Sweden then belonged to Denmark (until 1658). The idea was to create a Danish correspondence to the well fortified town Kalmar on the Swedish side of the border.
