| About the harbour: |
Västervik is an old town, the history goes back to 1433 when the king Erik XIII ordered the town to move to its present location. Before it was situated at the inner end of the bay Gamlebyviken. It has always been an important coastal town with small industries, shipping and fishing being the most important branches. It is now a well known "summer town" with a big tourist sector. |
